Salem Patch Article!Aaron Katz of The Dejas broke the world record for nonstop drumming in a retail store Sunday morning at Wynott's Wands in Salem. For 25 hours straight, Aaron Katz kept the beat inside Wynott's Wands on Essex Street in Salem. Knowing that he'd need to drum non-stop for 24 hours just to tie a world record set earlier this year in New York City, Katz started drumming away with two of Wynott's signature hand-crafted wands at 10 a.m. Saturday and didn't stop until 11 a.m. on Sunday. The world record attempt was all part of an effort to raise money for the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Salem's music program. Shortly after the attempt, this message from Katz was posted to his band's official Facebook page: "That record was broken by everyone who came out. The people there created the energy that made it possible to sit in that chair drumming for 25 hours. I honestly would have been asleep by 2 a.m. if it was just me and Callie and a big stopwatch in Wynott's. So much just happened I need to digest it but that was a WILD ride I feel very blessed to have experienced. Now, Must ice lower back and eat a 2 lb. bison burger. Thank you all! We did it..... with wands."

"Birth By Fire" Live
"The Dejas conjure rapturous soundscapes with resonant vocals of exceptional transportive beauty. They are sharing a sublime gift, live in-person, but they are not at all precious about it. They’re authentic and your ears will thank you." -Mark Palermo (Former Director of Business Affairs/Special Markets @ PolyGram, Director of Special Projects @ ASCAP)
“The Dejas have an uncanny ability to combine classic, archetypal songwriting with a new and fresh presentation and perspective, not an easy thing to achieve in today’s super-saturated music market. Their music is as compelling in its most intimate moments as it is in its grandest gestures, and it resonates with listeners of virtually every age and type. Great stuff.” -Bob Lord, CEO of PARMA Recordings
"The Dejas are an immensely diverse band with the potential to expand minds. Callie Lipton's Hope Sandovalian voice is both hypnotic and captivating and Aaron Katz's musicality is evident in everything he plays. I'm truly honored to have been a part of their journey." -Sean McLaughlin, "Producer of the Year" New England Music Awards 2012 (37' Productions, Co-Producer/Engineer & Mixer of "Speeding Softly")
